Nah, just playing. But today, I want to do an auditing exercise.

Let’s audit your circle from 2023.

The Most Important Thing?

At the beginning of 2023, David Osborn told us that who you surround yourself with is the most important thing on your path to financial freedom.

A couple of weeks ago, Brandon Turner said the same thing. He said being around the right group of people can 2x your results.

You see, your circle affects you in three powerful ways:

• Osmosis: You become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with

• Expanded network: Tap into other people’s networks and leverage their connections

• Accountability: You are more likely to achieve higher results when you are held accountable by a mastermind, mentor, coach, or like-minded friend group.

When two of the most successful real estate investors and business owners I know say something, I listen.

So, here's your audit checklist for 2023:

Review the following:

• Your friends

• Your inner circle

• People you recently met

• Conversations that stood out

• Fun or interesting things you did (and with whom)

Understand who you are hanging out with and how it’s affecting you (good or bad). Audit how the people around you are impacting your life, energy, spirit:

• Adding

• Subtracting

• Multiplying

• Dividing

We want to spend more time with the people multiplying and adding to our lives.

Next, of the people you’ve met recently.

• Has anyone changed your view on something that big impact?

• Have any people stood out that you want to get to know more?

• Did you meet someone you know you should reach out to but haven’t “found the time” yet?

To expand your network and be intentional about who you spend time with, it’s important to consciously bring these types of people into your life while removing those who drain you.

Find friends that add value to your goals

Being around the right people has a compound effect.

It energizes you. Lightens your mood. Encourages you. Keeps you in line. And exposes you to more opportunities.

Intentionally curate a friend group around your goals for 2024.

• If you want more fit friends, join a local gym, meet up, or fitness class where you can meet people

• If you want more real estate investing friends, go to meet-ups, events, conferences, and DM people online

• If you want to be friends with business owners, surround yourself with business owners, and business buying groups, and reach out to influencers in that space online.

You’ll get closer to your goals through osmosis, your network will grow, you’ll be more accountable (directly or indirectly), and you will be able to share wins with like-minded people who won’t get jealous but will be genuinely happy for you.
