How to change your relationships

(so you can level up and not be like everyone else)

Someone recently asked me how my relationships have changed throughout my journey.

My relationships have changed in 2 ways.

  1. I’ve invested more in myself

  2. I value my time more

This led me to build more relationships with mentors, coaches, and like-minded people.

I spend more time with people who have similar goals and similarly high standards.

Spending time with these people helps me

  • Get (or give) help when going through similar experiences

  • Push me to a better future

  • Raise my own standards

Your friends outside of real estate aren’t going through similar challenges as you. They can’t help you analyze properties, raise money, or manage tenants.

Like-minded people elevate you because they are going through it too.

They can give you advice, connect you with the right people, and you can learn from their mistakes.

Buying properties and scaling your portfolio is normal when you are surrounded by others doing it. This elevates your standards.

Mentors, coaches, & like-minded friends will push you to a better future more than your other friends.

Your other friends outside of real estate are happy with you as you are. While it’s great that they are happy with who you are today, to grow, you need to push beyond your comfort zone.

Mentors, coaches, and like-minded people will push you beyond your comfort zone.

Mentors and like-minded people want to help you

We had Matt Aitchison on our Mastermind call a few months ago.

He talked about how mentors want to help you. They love to take people under their wing.

But you have to show up, execute, and do what they tell you, or else they won’t want to help you.

If you DM a real estate “influencer” for advice, and they recommend reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, you better read it. And you better follow up with your takeaways and how you will implement what you learned.

That’s how Ward became my right-hand man—he sought after mentorship, took action, and showed he can execute.
